Description
Put your guides, downloads and product manuals where people can find them.
Bring articles, Media Library files and external links together in a searchable WordPress library, help centre or collection of product resources.
Use the Free plugin to build:
- A resource library for PDF brochures, forms, reference sheets and downloads.
- A help centre for setup guides, tutorials, FAQs and troubleshooting articles.
- Product documentation with manuals, specifications and care guides on your WooCommerce product pages.
Try the Free workflows in our live demo, with labelled notes explaining what Pro adds.

Help visitors find the right resource
Replace a long page of download links with a searchable library in a visual grid or compact table view.
- Search your collection: find matches in titles, descriptions, article content and file details.
- Narrow the results: filter by category, tag or document type, then sort and move between result pages.
- Preview before downloading: open supported Media Library PDFs, images, audio and video in a browser preview.
- Keep the next action clear: read an article, download a file or open an external reference at its source.

Make your guides easier to follow
Write articles in the block editor and arrange them in a nested structure. DocToucan connects them with useful navigation.
- Show readers where they are with breadcrumbs, an article tree and previous/next links.
- Help them reach the relevant section with an automatic table of contents linked to article headings.
- Keep supporting material close by with related files, articles and external references.
Articles include reading time, helpful/not-helpful feedback and print styles. DocToucan Wide controls the reading layout while keeping your theme’s header and footer; Theme Integrated lets your theme control the article page.

Put product manuals on your product pages
With WooCommerce active, select the relevant Documents in the product editor. Customers can read guides and download files from a Resources tab without searching through the rest of your site.
Public resources for individual products are included in Free. WooCommerce is optional: your library and help centre work without it.
Update once, reuse across your site
Every managed item has one central Document record with one primary mode:
- Article, Media attachment or External URL.
Reuse the same record in libraries, documentation and product resources instead of maintaining separate copies. Free has no plugin-imposed document-count limit and includes one documentation hub.
Free is intended for public resources. Normal WordPress Media Library file URLs remain public; listing a file in DocToucan does not make it private.
DocToucan Pro
DocToucan Pro is the paid edition for sites that need more control over document access, presentation and day-to-day maintenance. It extends the same Document records, so existing libraries and content remain in place when you upgrade.
- Folder views, saved libraries, multi-select filters and bulk ZIP downloads.
- Indexed file-content search with highlighted matches for supported formats.
- Themes, skins, presentation packs, saved design presets and advanced CSS controls.
- Protected file delivery with role, user and password rules, plus expiring links.
- File versions and rollback, review dates, expiry and audit records.
- Bulk file intake, CSV/WXR transfer and preview-first migration tools.
- WooCommerce category and variation resources, purchaser access and account delivery.
Manage larger collections, keep documents current and control how they are presented and shared without duplicating content.
The shared demo includes labelled notes explaining the Pro additions alongside the working Free examples. Pro features are not enabled in the demo.

FAQ
-
Does the library work without JavaScript?
-
Yes. Search, filters, sorting, pagination and reader actions use normal server-rendered forms and links. JavaScript enhances the experience but is not required.
-
Which files can be previewed?
-
Media Library PDFs, images, audio and video receive a browser preview when their MIME type is supported. Other files retain a download action; external resources open at their public URL.
-
Are Media Library files private?
-
No. Free uses normal public Media Library URLs. Pro offers a separate protected-delivery workflow; adding an ordinary public file to a library does not make its original URL private.
-
What does the Free documentation experience include?
-
One public hub combines article-content search, category cards and a nested article tree. Article pages add navigation, a table of contents, related resources, reading time, print styles and aggregate usefulness feedback.
-
Does feedback store visitor data?
-
No user-level feedback record is created. Free stores only aggregate helpful and not-helpful counters on the Article Document.
-
Will DocToucan work with my theme?
-
Libraries integrate with standards-based block and classic themes. Articles offer DocToucan Wide or Theme Integrated layouts. See the documentation for tested themes.
