Easy Taxonomy Support

Description

Easy Taxonomy Support, by Spectrum Visions, makes it easy to add post tag and category support to pages and custom post types.

Custom post type support will prevent post tags and categories that are associated with custom posts from returning “nothing found”, or 404 errors. With the page tags and/or categories enabled, you can add tags to pages and assign pages to categories.

Features

  • Add tags and categories to WordPress pages.

  • Allows tags on custom post types with the “post_tag” taxonomy to function without producing errors.

  • Page tags will show up in your tag cloud.

  • Interacts with Q & A Focus Plus FAQ so that tags on FAQs are not broken if Easy Taxonomy Support is deactivated.

Easy Taxonomy Support does not:

  • Add the “post_tag” or any category taxonomies to registered custom post types. Custom post type support only works if you can already add tags to custom posts.

  • Display categories or tags at the bottom of pages.

  • Clean your house, mow your lawn, or improve your love life. If we can add these features in the future, we will.

  • Wordpress page editor with tags and categories enabled.

Installation

  • Uncompress the download package.

  • Upload folder including all files and sub directories to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.

  • Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

  • You can enable and disable tag and category support on the “Easy Taxonomy” settings page.

IMPORTANT

If you deactivate Easy Taxonomy Support, you might break whatever tags and categories you have added to custom posts (clicking on them will produce errors). Unless you have another plugin to support custom post type taxonomies (Q & A Focus Plus includes custom post taxonomy support), you should leave Easy Taxonomy Support active.

FAQ

Some custom post types do not allow me to add tags, even with support for them enabled.

Whoever created the custom post type probaby did not add the “post_tag” taxonomy when registering the post type.

I am using Q & A Focus Plus and when I deactivate Easy Taxonomy Support everything still functions as if it were enabled.

That is too protect the tags associated with FAQs. Q & A Focus Plus has it’s own built in taxonomy support, which is bypassed when Easy Taxonomy Support is activated. If you deactivate Easy Taxonomy Support, the taxonomy support in Q & A Focus Plus will automatically be enabled.

Why don’t tags that I add to pages show at the bottom of each page, like they do with posts?

WordPress does not support “page tags” (if it did, you would not be needing this plugin), so the template you are using is probably not designed to show tags at the bottom of pages.
